ORYX Rifle Chassis System By MDT

MDT introduces ORYX brand as a complete bolt-action chassis system for under $400. MDT has introduced a new chassis and brand with the release of the ORYX. The ORYX is a one-piece integrated aluminum chassis and buttstock created to improve the consistency and accuracy of a bolt action rifle that retails for under four hundred dollars.

What Makes the ORYX Chassis so Great?

ORYX is a one-piece integrated aluminium chassis and buttstock created to improve the consistency and accuracy of your bolt action rifle.

  • Free Floating Barrel: We let the bore do the chore. The ORYX keeps your barrel free of any contact with the chassis components for greater consistency.
  • Solid Action Interface: Each ORYX is designed for your specific rifle model – holding your action solid for better accuracy.
  • Integrated Rifle Stock: From the forend to the buttpad – ORYX is one piece of aircraft grade aluminium. Solid. Straight.
  • Contoured Forend Grip: You always have your hands on your rifle – why not make it feel perfect when you hold it? The ORYX fits great in your hands and sits solid on barricades and platforms. And for those cold days in the woods or when things heat up at the range the ORYX polymer side panels keep your hand’s comfortable no matter the conditions.

ORYX Chassis Specifications

  • Made of hard anodized T6061 aluminum
  • Adjustable comb
  • Adjustable length of pull
  • M-LOK slots on bottom of the forend to attach bipods and other accessories
  • Flared magazine well to improve and speed up the loading process
  • Mag well acts as barricade stop
  • Multiple QD attachment points
  • Includes MDT contoured pistol grip

Polymer side panels provide added handling and ergonomics – including a thumb shelf – which lends itself to a variety of hand positioning and shooting techniques.

Weighing in at 3.2 lbs, the ORYX is the perfect platform for a hunting rifle.  The ORYX can accommodate up to a 1.25″ straight taper barrel, which makes the ORYX perfect for a precision rifle build.

The ORYX is currently available for the Remington 700, Howa 1500, and Tikka T3. Releases for the Remington 783, Howa Mini, and Ruger American are slated for early 2019.

Modular Driven Technologies Black Friday Sale 2018 – New Stock, Cosmetic Blemished Factory Seconds

Modular Driven Technologies has sent out a few black friday sales emails today. Im mostly interested in the LSS Chassis for $239, I will order on Friday (Payday). I will probably go for a $269 long action version. There is outstanding deals on cosmetic blemished factory seconds. Examples, a left handed TAC 21 is $276!!!. Equally intriguing is the skeleton stocks that are $100-$150 off. I don’t think I can swing a stock and a chassis though. If anyone reading this purchases something that’s a factory second I would like to see some pictures and hear some feedback about what the cosmetic defects are.

To me this is an unexpected product offering from Brownells, a Brownells branded MDT LSS Chassis. Brownells used to be slow to respond to firearm market trends and in my opinion this bolt action chassis finally shows some forward thinking on Brownells part. For me as i have stated before I really like partnerships between my favorite companies and Modular Driven Technologies and Brownells are two of my favorites. lastly i think the Rams head logo is a cool touch given that’s exactly the types of beasts that might see action from this chassis.

There are currently 18 models to choose from including two for the Ruger American Rifle. Colors are Black or Flat Dark Earth aka FDE

MDT ESS Chassis Installed on a Rifle

The ESS Chassis retains the MDT proven V-block bedding system to form a solid and reliable base for the rifle action. The magazine well has been refined for easy insertion of the magazine, while reducing rattle and movement. The tab style magazine release has been replaced with a semi-flush ambidextrous paddle that can easily be activated by a weak or strong hand. The recoil lug mortise has been designed to accommodate most aftermarket recoil lugs and the trigger area will accommodate most aftermarket triggers.

A serrated barricade stop has been added to the front of the magazine well and a polymer fore-end grip at the balance point adds comfort. The wide fore-grip area combined with the octagonal profiled for-end tube offers flexible options when shooting over bags or improvised rests. Thumb shelves have been added to both side of the chassis for shooters who prefer an open grip.

The most significant change is the incorporation of the ESS specific butt-stock interface, rather than the traditional AR pattern interface.  This allows us to place the pistol grip in optimum relation to the trigger, while still allowing the shooter to choose from the wide variety of AR pattern pistol grips which suit their preference.

MDT ESS Chassis Stock – The MDT ESS chassis comes with it’s own butt-stock, similar to our Skeleton Rifle Stock. It is fully adjustable including lateral adjustment for the butt-pad and the cheek rest.  Cheek rest height and butt-pad length-of-pull are adjustable by thumb wheels.
