In July 2019, with much sadness, we learned that J.Allen had gone out of business, and one of the most winningest rifle chassis ever made, the JAE 700, would no longer be manufactured. This put a halt to our 6.5 Creedmoor Long Range Sniper Rifle Build Project. Fortunately, it seemed that while J.Allen was to be no more MDT purchased the assets and rights to the JAE 700 Remington 700 rifle chassis. It’s no secret I’m a fan of MDT, the company, and their chassis, and if there were to be a happy ending for the JAE 700 chassis, it would be under MDT.

I expected that MDT would get the JAE 700 to market somewhat quickly because the JAE 700 is darn good as is. It turns out I was wrong, my excitement turned to sadness as there was nothing but silence from Modular Driven Technologies. In fact, I became tired of waiting, and on more than one occasion, I started to look for JAE 700 alternatives from KRG (Kinetic Research Group) and Accuracy International.

Fast forward to January 28, 2022, I decided to contact MDT/JAE through the JAE dedicated website and see if I could get a status update. MDT has phenomenal customer service, and I was sure I would get a reply; I just wasn’t sure I would obtain helpful information. I was once again partially wrong. Below is their response.

Yes, we are getting closer to launching.  We had a few samples of the chassis at Shot Show last week and we are making some samples for testing.  Just making some final tweaks to the product before releasing.

Each Area 419 Tenacity Barreled Action features a receiver that’s nitride-treated for hardness, low friction, and durability, and the receivers are matched with cut-rifled Bartlein 5R barrels. The barrels are guaranteed to provide accuracy of 1/2 MOA or less in the hands of a skilled shooter using quality ammunition.

All of the final machining and fitting is done by Area 419’s team, and the whole process starts with an axial indication of the bore, which is measured to the ten-thousandth of an inch. Chambers are cut to SAAMI minimum tolerances, ensuring that shooters have a tight, match chamber to maximize the gun’s potential.

Barrels are available in 6.5 Creedmoor, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .300 Win. Mag. and .223 Rem. Barrels are available in 24-inch lengths and feature twist rates optimized for each caliber.

Introducing the KRG Bravo 10/22 Chassis. Designed to fit your favorite Ruger 10/22 for that dream build you’ve always wanted. Featuring the same great ergonomics as the standard Bravo but with a slightly shorter minimal LOP (~11.25″) for shooters of all sizes. For those of you over-thinkers out there, don’t worry, the cheekpiece position is still the same as our standard Bravo.

The Bravo is one of the most comfortable stocks available but that’s just the beginning. The full-length stiff aluminum backbone will not allow the forend to flex on you but does allow design modularity with loads of accessories like our popular Spigot Mount and ARCA Rail system.

KRG 10/22 Bravo Chassis Forend:

  • Polymer for lightweight and to eliminate heat transfer to/from the shooter’s hand.
  • Mounting holes at various positions will take L2 Picatinny rails, Barrier stop, ARCA Rail, etc…
  • M-lok slots in sides and bottom of forend for universal accessories mounting

KRG 10/22 “Backbone”:

  • Full length aluminum backbone from the action to the tip of the forend
  • Accepts the Whiskey-3 gen 3+ Spigot Mount, but current Spigot mounts will not fit the 10/22 with a bull barrel.
  • Will accept barrel contours up to .920″ in diameter.

KRG 10/22 Cheek-Piece:

Since then TriggerTech has worked with the K&M Shooting Team and several leading R700 Clone action manufacturers the refine the product. The Rem 700 Diamond is truly zero creep and is the most consistent and crisp breaking trigger you will ever use. The diamond will make you aware of the creep that exists in other triggers. It features new variable rate adjustment technology that enables quick and confident adjustment from <4oz – 32oz with TriggerTech’s patented CLKR Technology™. The adjustment feature utilizes externally accessible set screw and the adjustment range begins at ~0.2 oz/click from <4 oz to ~9 oz and the changes to ~1 oz click from ~9 oz to 32 oz. Due to the exceptionally crisp break, most shooters report the pull weights feeling significantly lighter than a friction based trigger of the same measured weight. Five of the critical Diamond components are assembled as matched set to enable a true zero-creep break, extremely short overtravel, and offer outstanding reliability, even in the harshest environments.
