MDT ADJUSTABLE CORE COMPETITION ACC CHASSIS SYSTEM DETAILS

Adjustable Core Competition chassis system is designed for the competition world: the ACC is primarily suited for the PRS & NRL shooting style, although it can be used in other disciplines. The ACC chassis system is the result of endless testing and collaborating with competition shooters, implementing the most crucial and results driven features, while ensuring accuracy and precision remain unparalleled.

The ACC (keyword A for Adjustable) was created with an integrated weight management system, allowing shooters to fine tune their chassis’ weight and balance point. The adjustability comes from a series of weights that can be added to either the buttstock, interior forend or exterior forend m-lok. It’s original weight of 5.9 lbs transforms into a maximum of 12.3 lbs (chassis only – add on your action, barrel, scope and accessories and most shooters are pushing 25-30 lbs in the ACC).

All of this modularity and adjustment can be achieved without taking your barreled action out of the chassis system: internal forend weights can be inserted from the front of the forend and screwed in place, while external weights were designed to be M-LOK compatible and easily attached on either side of the forend. This ACC weight management system allows shooters to rapidly adjust the feel and recoil characteristics of their system, even while at the range.

Along with other features like the full 17” ARCA/RRS forend, flared magazine well, extended barricade stop, widened thumb shelf, adjustable cheek riser and length of pull – the Adjustable Core Competition chassis is nothing short of excellence for the competition shooting world.

MDT ADJUSTABLE CORE COMPETITION ACC CHASSIS SYSTEM MOUNTING AND COMPATIBLE ACCESSORIES

The ACC chassis is designed to accept an ESS compatible buttstock, with a few modifications to provide extra weight and solid lockup of adjustments, whilst still being tooless. The MDT Vertical Grip was designed at the same time as this chassis and is built for the competitive shooter.

The ACC chassis accepts AICS-pattern external box magazines, and supports installation of M-Lok patterned accessories along the forend. The full length Arca/RRS standard dovetail allows shooters to mount a wide variety of accessories with infinite adjustment, which is now a standard among the competitive community.

MDT Generation 2 LSS Rifle Chassis

MDT Generation 2 LSS Chassis System

Replace your stock on your Tikka T3, Remington 700 or one of many other bolt action rifles with our tactical chassis!

Our LSS Chassis was designed for use with short barrelled bolt action rifles. It converts your rifle to an external box magazine fed rifle, while improving accuracy, and giving the rifle superior ergonomics by allowing use of AR-15 butt-stocks and grips.

LSS Gen2 Chassis System

Our MDT LSS Chassis System is onto the next generation.

The LSS Gen2 is an update of our popular LSS chassis. The LSS Gen2 chassis system now sports a bold and modern new look inspired by the contours of our more recent chassis lines like the ESS, ACC & LSS-XL Gen2, and is lighter than ever (1.3 to 1.7lb depending on the model).

The LSS Gen2 incorporates the following new features, in addition to everything the original LSS had to offer:

  • Ambidextrous magazine release
  • M-Lok pattern attachment slots on sides and bottom of the forend
  • Barricade-stop grooves ahead of mag-well
  • Side-relieved mag well

LSS Chassis Details

Our LSS chassis system was designed to be as compact as possible. The V-shaped bedding and free floated forend improve accuracy and ergonomics. The forend allows for barrel contours up to 1″ in diameter. The graphic on the right shows the two flat spots (V-block) where the action sits. The area below the action remains rounded to ultimate strength.

The chassis system is manufactured out of billet 6061-T6 aluminum and has been finished with Cerakote™ in Black or Flat Dark Earth (FDE). To keep this chassis system compact, it was designed for carbine AR-15 buttstocks. However, fixed buttstocks can be mounted with the use of a fixed stock adapter. Alternatively, our LSS-XL Gen2 chassis has a longer forend and was designed to accept fixed buttstocks without the use of the adapter.

LSS Chassis Compatibility

The MDT LSS chassis system is currently manufactured for the following bolt action rifle platforms:

  • Remington 700 Short Action

The LSS chassis uses AICS style external box style magazines in .223 and .308 caliber for Short Action and .300WM or .338LM AICS style magazines for Long Action rifles, and supports the installation of bolt-on MIL-STN-1913 accessory mounting rails. Mounting holes are spaced for Magpul style L5 (11 slots) and L3 (7 slots) rails (1.600” / 3.200”) to be used on the bottom of the forend up to 6.5″ in length.

Note: Long action magazines come in 4 different lengths: 3.560″, 3.715″, 3.775″ and 3.850″. The LSS chassis for long action uses 3.715 length magazines with the exception of the Tikka T3 which needs the 3.560″ length magazines.

The max thickness of recoil lug recommend is .350″ (8.9mm)

LSS Chassis Specifications

For rifles with longer barrels to be used for long range (past 900 meters) we recommend our TAC21, ESS or our HS3 Chassis systems.

What You Get, and What You Need

The LSS chassis system comes as a 1-piece chassis, with all required mounting hardware included. This includes new action screws and a screw for the pistol grip.

To complete this chassis on your rifle, the additional items you need to purchase are:

  • Any AR-15 buttstock. For fixed buttstocks, you will need the fixed stock adapter, or consider using our LSS-XL Gen2 chassis.
  • A buffer tube for your buttstock. (Both mil-spec and commercial work on our chassis)
  • An AR-15 Pistol Grip. Ideally without a beavertail, or use a soft (bendable) beavertail.
  • At least one magazine

If you prefer a longer forend, please also see our LSS-XL chassis System or our HS3 Chassis System.

Important Notes

Howa 1500 / Weatherby Vanguard Short Actions This is the only action that we manufacture a chassis for that has a flat bottom action. For this reason, only our Polymer magazines will work. The fitting may need to be modified slightly for proper feeding. For .223 models the bolt stop may be too long. This can easily be modified. This also means that the action does not sit in a V-Block.

Savage models 10/110 11/111 12/112 16/116 For rifles with the bolt release at the bottom, the bolt release can be engaged through the side of the chassis, using a pin or tool. (Not included)

Savage Long Action in 338 Lapua Magnum Savage Long Action Chassis systems all use 3.715″ AICS magazine wells. The BA 110 in 338 Lapua Magnum uses 3.850″ magazines and have recently switched to a thicker recoil lug which will not fit our chassis. We have released a version of the ESS which is specifically designed around the current BA 110 in 338 Lapua Magnum.

Tikka T3 / T3x – Long Calibers Only our Metal 3.56 magazine will fit with the chassis for this action and needs to be purchased separately.

Savage Axis The original recoil lug that comes with the rifle is required for installation into the chassis. On the Long Action, you will need to use 30.06 3.56 Magazine

Ruger American The action screw is located directly above the magazine lever. This means that the magazine lever needs to be installed AFTER installing the action into the chassis. Detailed instructions are provided, and an installation video can be found here.

Ruger American in 223/5.56mm requires the use of this magazine. Does not work with 300 Blackout

It will fit Predator and Ranch versions. Please read notes on magazines for 223/556 rifles.

Ruger Scout Drop- in for Ruger Gunsite Scout rifles only. Will not fit older Tang safety Ruger M77. Mark II and Hawkeye short action will bolt in, but modifications to the magazines and ejector may be required. Rifles with two- stage triggers will also require modifications to the chassis. The Ruger Gunsite Scout in 223/5.56mm requires the use of this magazine

MDT Generation 2 LSS Rifle Chassis System Dimensions

Dimensions shown are based on Remington 700 Short Action. It can be shorted significantly using a carbine (collapsible) buttstock. If you prefer using a fixed rifle stock, take a look at our LSS-XL chassis.

MDT RELEASES ADJUSTABLE CORE COMPETITION CHASSIS SYSTEM

So far 2018 has kept its promises for MDT: our team is working relentlessly, releasing new products for you to customize your bolt action rifle systems, rejuvenating some of our existing chassis system lines with practical features that help you shoot better, and extending our current product offering with new inlets being released. As we slowly roll into Fall MDT is still going full steam ahead to achieve the goals that we’ve set for ourselves this year.

Today, however, we want to pause and take the time required to unveil a brand new chassis system that we can’t wait to tell you more about. It has generated a lot of excitement and anticipation internally during our design and testing phases, but also received unanimous praise from our reviewers who had the privilege of taking a first look (and shot) at it. So without further ado, we are adding the Adjustable Core Competition chassis system – also known as the ACC – to the MDT family of chassis systems for bolt action rifles.

As you can tell by its name, the Adjustable Core Competition chassis system is clearly designed for and geared toward the competition world: the ACC chassis system is best suited for the PRS & NRL shooting style. As is customary with most of our designs, we spent a lot of time collecting information from the end-users of our products. The insight we received from PRS shooters, as they shared with us which features they were looking for in a competition chassis, really helped us to develop the ACC chassis system from the ground up. So let’s review these features starting with the most significant one.

We already mentioned the ACC is a competition chassis system but you might be asking yourself why MDT chose to call it “Adjustable Core”. Any guesses? Well, it has to do with the fact that the weight of the ACC chassis system is adjustable. We designed this competition chassis with an integrated weight management system allowing shooters to personally fine tune the overall weight and balance point.

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System M-Lok Adjustable Forend Weights

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System M-Lok Adjustable Forend Weights

This adjustability comes from a series of weights that can be added to either the buttstock or the forend of the ACC chassis system, taking its original weight of 5.9 lbs to a maximum of 13.3 lbs and anywhere in between. The best part is that all this modularity can be achieved without taking your barreled action out of the ACC chassis system: internal forend weights can be inserted from the front of the forend and screwed in place, while external weights were designed to be M-Lok compatible and easily attached on either side of the forend. The ACC weight management system allows shooters to rapidly adjust the feel and recoil characteristics of their system, even while being at the range.

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System Arca Forend

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System Arca Forend

The next feature that we knew we had to integrate to the ACC chassis system is a built-in, ARCA compatible forend. As the use of ARCA/RRS dovetail systems has exploded in the competitive rifle shooting world, MDT incorporated approximately 17” of useable ARCA rail on the ACC chassis forend, machined to RRS standard, providing what feels like infinite accessory adjustability to the shooter. As you come closer to the front of the magazine well you will also notice that the barricade stop has been extended lower and angled forward. With a total height of 1.4” this barricade stop provides a greater contact area and solid lockup with any obstacle, barricade, fence or other props that match directors creatively add to their different match stages.

Moving now to the back of the trigger guard area of the ACC chassis you will notice a new MDT vertical grip. We opted for a vertical grip orientation as this is the position of choice for most competitive shooters. MDT’s vertical grip design consists of a machined core on which two polymer panels clamp on. These panels are removable and have been shaped after our original MDT pistol grip to provide comfortable hand support whether shooting prone or in position. To add to the already extensive modularity of the ACC chassis system, the panels have been designed to slide forward and back allowing shooters to custom fit the grip to their liking. MDT’s vertical grip is also compatible with standard AR pistol grip boss which means it can be used on the rest of our chassis system models and those of other manufacturers as well.

The Remington 700 action and its clones being the most used in the Precision Rifle world MDT has inleted the ACC chassis system specifically for these actions. Our team designed the ACC chassis system to accommodate oversized trigger hangers and recoil lugs without any modification to the chassis. The recoil lug pocket is now sized to fit lugs which are ⅜” thick and up to 1.270” tall (from bore centerline to bottom of recoil lug). As far as the trigger hangers are concerned, the largest we’ve tested being the one on the Impact 737R action, they drop in and fit nicely. We also added a trigger adjustment slot at the bottom of the trigger guard for the single stage triggers where the trigger weight adjustment screw is located on the bottom, making this feature accessible without having to remove the action from the ACC chassis system. The list of all compatible actions with the ACC chassis system is available on our product web page.

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System Skeleton Stock

MDT Adjustable Core Competition Chassis System Skeleton Stock

Moving to the back of the ACC chassis you will notice a few similar features to our ESS chassis system. First of all the buttstock interface with the chassis is the same proprietary interface that we used on the ESS: the strength and rigidity of this interface is a key factor that MDT wanted to keep on the ACC chassis system. Secondly, the skeletonized buttstock itself is also equipped with the same tool-less LOP & Cheek Riser adjustments present on the ESS buttstock: the brass tipped thumbwheels provide a quick way to adjust your buttstock while ensuring a rock-solid lock up once positioned. The ACC buttstock has an additional LOP adjustment guide rod to limit the amount of cant in the buttpad. Once everything is tight and snug you will not be able to feel any movement in the ACC buttstock.

While these are the main features of the ACC chassis there is much more that can be said about this system. As is the standard on lots of our chassis the magazine well of the ACC has been flared at three different angles to allow for a smooth magazine insertion, which will prove useful in those stages where time is working against you. The chassis is also equipped with wider thumb shelves to provide better contact and grip. MDT also added two M-Lok “pockets” on either side of the ACC chassis system for future accessory expansion: MDT is developing a 2-round holder that will fix into these as well as other competition based accessories to be released down the road.

We could write a couple more pages about the ACC chassis but it will not do it as much justice as taking it to the shooting range or to competition grounds to get that “field” experience of the Adjustable Core Competition chassis system’s capabilities.

Find out more information about our Adjustable Core Competition chassis system on our website. Our new MDT ACC chassis system is now available and can be ordered on the ACC chassis page.
